I saw Mama Kissing Santa Claus

April 21, 2018, the day we discovered a child, based on our experience with our son, is not really innocent as we are thinking towards "Santa Claus" thing.

Last December 2017, a week before Christmas, my family including my wife and my son visited Ikea to look for stuffs for our Christmas Party Exchanging of Gifts.

As we follow the path on Ikea, our son with his child nature pick up things he get interested with. Luckily, we have instill to him that he cannot have every toy he wanted and that we are giving him a chance to decide to take which one he finds more interesting over the other. This scenario has been happening many times in every single store.

For this Ikea visit, he started to pick up a big soft dog toy  which he outright named it as Clifford, his favorite character from the book "Clifford, The Big Red Dog".

As we continue, he saw a very big shark, also a soft toy. It is really big, even bigger than him, hence more pricey than Clifford. With out us asking, he started to think and being unaware of the price difference, he put down Clifford and said "Daddy, this is expensive" and he carried the shark. I know it has been difficult for him but I am not happy with his decision. Not only because of the price but that time we are swaying him away from anything about shark, because he always imitate it and scaring his playmates with his shark play.

We let him carry it. It seems nothing else matched his interest to that shark that he is walking all through out the first level of Ikea with it. Here is what happened, he gets tired as we reach the next level of Ikea. Not a surprise as the shark is really big and surely has a weight for a 4 year old kid. He put it in an abandoned trolley to rest himself and then he walks around. Fortunately, in my point of view, a boy around 11-12 years old took the shark soft toy without my son's sight.

Not so long, my son notice his shark is gone and started to ask where it has been. So I told him, he leaves it and he didn't take care of it, thus somebody took it.

He get sad until he saw a Wooden Ikea Train, which we knew he really likes. He loves trains that he have 3 sets of train toys including a Chugginnton Train Set given by his Godmother. Furthermore, we even have our weekly metro train day which we have to ride Dubai Metro at least 2 stations back and forth. So as expexted, he took the train and this time he put it in our basket.

Maybe due to tiredness after walking in 2 levels of Ikea Showroom, it seems he have forgotten his train toy giving me the chance to hide it. Its because we have agreement before leaving home that we are not gonna buy a toy. So at the counter, I reminded him that we are not buying a toy and told him we will get ice cream instead. With his cooperation, it becomes easy for us to keep that agreement.

We still bought the train. Just not in his sight so we can play the Santa Clause thing. He knew Santa Claus and since December started, we kept telling him to be a good boy so that Santa Claus will fill his sock a gift.

Its Christmas Day! Our son get up with our greetings. We told him it is Christmas Day and asked him to check if he got a gift from Santa Claus. And he found out he indeed recieved a gift from Santa Claus. He is not excited with it but we urge him to open it. After some tearing, it seems he got a clue and gets excited. As he opened, he is very happy with this surprise.

This day of April 21st 2018, with our normal weekend, he looked for that train and he asked, "Daddy can you help find the tunnel of the train you give me that time. The Santa Train." I respond, "It is not me who gave it to you. It is from Santa Claus.

With a smile, he told me "Daddy, you are Santa Claus". Me and my wife looked at each other and told ourselves, our son is not at all innocent as what we have thought.

It is a very blessed day for us as we understand more of our son.

P.S. This day is a Metro Day for us.
